Below is one of many e-mails that the clean4life.net website receives daily,

Good morning,

It was refreshing to read your article "THE TRUTH ABOUT THE MISUSE OF SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE (CHLORINE) WITH RELATION TO ROOF CLEANING IN FLORIDA."

I have been searching for information on this topic for several weeks, as I am wanting to stop the use of driveway cleaning in our small community.

They left the chemicals on all townhouse driveways for more than 3 hours, then washed it all down our storm water drain. Consequently, I was very ill (burning, stinging, breathing, etc.) for that entire day as our home was overcome with toxic fumes, which filled our neighborhood for at least 6 hours. It took a week to regain my health.

I understand this is illegal in regard to the clean water act, however, I am yet to find good information to present to our association - which will also include restricting the use of bleach for roof cleaning - which is a new treatment preference here.

It would be very helpful to communities if someone who knows chemicals would put together a summary of the typical chemicals used, their impact, and alternatives. Then we would have the necessary information for our management associations.

We would love a chemical free community - and will visit every resident to sign a petition once we know the specifics of what to ask for.

If you have any information or ideas that can help our cause please let me know.

Regards,

Janet Greene
